Hia

Not asked a question for ages
So I thought why not

Well

In B&M yesterday saw an oil filled radiator 800w(I think if my memory is correct) £17.
It was the small size.
Last year I kept the  chill out of my van with the traditional tall one

Wondering if the smaller one in size would be more suited to the van

What do other people use to keep the chill out of there van over the colder months when at home or on electric

Yes I know some of you go to warmer climates but my budget won't let me do that

I just use the gas fire with central heating when not using H/u.
also have a convector panel heater about the same size as a Truma fire & thermostatically controlled (for example) when hooked up.
like these...http://www.snhtradecentre.co.uk/fires-fireside-accessories/electric-heaters/convector-panel-heaters/

Never been a believer in heating the van throughout the winter months (if we stay in the UK) as I do not like heating the air up then it all goes cold and turns to condensation.

I prefer to remove the seating (just stand it up) open all the interior doors and lockers and let the ventilation do the rest.

You do not see the dealers putting heaters in all there forecourt vans and they are out in the open just like ours.

Didnt read properly, dont use anything to warm m/h on drive as Bob says dont want unecessary condensation.

Polly, we don't heat ours when on the drive unless we are going somewhere, then we put a convector heater in the evening before (when we turn on the fridge) so that its warmish when we move off.  If we are going somewhere with EHU then we take heater with us, otherwise we leave it at home.

We also open all the lockers/cupboard doors so that air moves around and hope we don't suffer condensation, we haven't so far.

I use a fan heater, but only on the frost setting, and leave all doors and lockers open.

Have been sorting through the motorhome the last few days a few lockers at a time, and the fan heater didn't come on whilst I was in there.

The motorhome goes for habitation service at the end of this week so its pointless warming it up because all the doors will be left open while it is being worked on.  I always notice how much colder it is inside the van after a service.

Hia

Thanks for your replies sounds logical M/H on fore cotes are not kept warm

It's the frost that concerns me

I do take my seat cushions out and open all the lockers

Just worried about the frost though it might help against freezing up

Last year my oil filled rad was on the low setting 24/7  over the cold period.

Thanks
Oh and I do drain it down but worried about the bit of waste and fresh water that does not want to leave the tanks

Dont worry about any puddles at the bottom, ice expands to the air around it so will not split any tanks, just have to make sure hoses & pipes are free of water.
