We had a suggestion of holding a charity meet in 2014
We are doing this and the venue chosen for it is the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
What we would like to know is:
Which charity would you like the club to raise money for?

Please put all your suggestions in here, we will then put the most popular ones into a poll to pick the winner, which will then be announced at the AGM/Xmas meet

in the past i have raised a lot of money for charities.the best way i found to distribute the cash,was to go direct to the source{and not paying towards the huge salarys of the directors}
no doubt most of our members will know or have heard of locally someone in dire need.
my suggestion would be to ask our members for such a person in need.and if we cant decide who is more deservant, then put the names in the hat and choose one.and then go straight to the source.Very Happy

i am sick of reading how many thousands of pounds a year the directors get.
and i knew one who would fix it that you won a cash prize{in a spot the ball competion ran in the local paper}for half of the winnings.the horrble dirty b@stard.

Agree with Frank and have had first hand experience of charity ripoffs, the bigger the charity the more being creamed off.

Any more suggestions?
taking note of what Frank and Rob have said, should we be looking at a more direct approach, like someone raising money to go abroad for treatment, families that have lost everything due to fire etc, that kind of thing

On the Local Television news there is often a news item whereby someone requires money for a sensory room, or a wheel chair/scooter to replace the one stolen, or money to go abroad for treatment.

Could I suggest where ever we hold the charity rally that we contact the local news office and ask if money is urgently needed in a case as above, local to the rally.

As an aside we may also gain new members if Motor Homers were interviewed or shown to present the money on the tv news. Just my thoughts.

Barb and me had the same discussion recently and fully endorse Frank and Joyce with this method of distributing funds we make for charity.

Hia

I agree with Frank a local charity

I go and donate my Christmas card money to my local charity Beechwood Cancer Care in person

I also agree with Joyce that where ever we do the charity weekend we look for somewhere local to there

Hia

A few years back at the nursery we were donating to the baby ward and they asked could they use it for shelving and toiletries for young mums we said yes as it wasn't lots and lots.

Also once we were told people donate to big equipment and then they don't have the staff to run them
