TV switched off automatically now sorted

Hi,

Been having problems with the bedroom TV it would stay on standby (red light) with no apparent problems, but every so often when i turned it on it would start and then more or less immediately go completely off, if I turned it on and off at the plug, it would work fine and other times I would have to go through the same process 2 or 3 times, before it would stay on.

I have now found the problem, it was the screw on the live terminal in the 13 amp plug was lose, well actually I don't think it had ever been tightened down on to the cable, I tightened all the screws and now its working fine.

Just thought I would mention it as you never know someone else may have a similar problem.

Who fitted the plug? all sets these days have moulded sealed units.

Hi, It was fitted buy the manufacturers, and it isn't a moulded sealed unit and its a LED 32 inch TV we only purchased band new 5 months ago.

I think the main point I was making was that the screws in plugs that may of been fitted by others or by yourself are worth double checking if the item starts to play up.

Sounds like a euro plug has been cut off and Uk fitted, maybe at the factory or the seller

It doesn't really matter who fitted it, it was the point that if you get a similar problem its worth checking the plug, before you perhaps commit to a more expensive repair.

It is worth checking every plug in the house, I've seen some disasters in my time
