These free wifi spots was accessed from the Aire's we stayed on......we did not have to travel to them. Just a query Heyupluv did you get your connection with Fon with or without the help of yourM/H wifi Hi Polly JUST FON...with FON alone....(Not using a dongle/mifi/sim they are different)....when you get a fon box (cost of 39 euros one off payment)that is it....you register with FON...you give a email address...and a password of your choosing...+ all the other information you enter on the fon internet registration form.. Poly This is what I have because I belong to another internet provider in france and they are not a member like SFR...and...BT and many other wifi networks in other countries...ZON is Portugal. You do NOT have to be a member of BT or have a BT email when you have one of these FON boxes..these boxes plug into your existing router who ever you are with, with the ethernet cable that comes with the box...you then register the box with fon with a email address and a password of your choosing..and any info they require to register..that is it.. to connect to any FON wifi hopspots that are members in different countries.you use your fon code to connect (your email address..and your fon password)...you look for a wifi signal if there is a fon signal in range after you have already used fon once...most of the time it will connect for you....then when you go onto the internet, a internet connection page will come up to add your details a fon or a SFR or a bt page will come up...normaly on the right hand side there is a box you have to fill in...a drop down box at the top will have either BT in it or SFR in or for me Fonnero because I have a fon box....you click on the one you need for you...enter your email address...enter your fon password...click in the box agree...then click ok....then you will get a internet connection page that says in 7sec..6sec..5secs ans so till it reaches 1 then you are on the internet once you have done it is all very simple and quick....and all you have had to pay is that one initial payment for the fon box of £39 euros ...that is it......but you do need a good booster to pull in the signals..when you find a signal in the uk it is BT free wifi..or BTopenzone...or bt/Fon...in France it is SFR/ FON. ..if you did not have a booster you would have to be on there drive???Right. to find a wifi FON hotspot ..btopenzone/Fon in the uk...or a SFR/ Fon hotspot in france..or a Zon/Fon hotspot in Potugal...and any other of the FON group of members and you have to have a decent signal...at the bottom of most laptops you will find the icon to bring up the box for to see all wifi signals in your range...you will see one with a fon on it eg SFR/FON or Bt/FON or BTopenzone...and so on..unsecured..click connect....then it will say connected..then when you go on onto the internet it bring up a connection page for you to add your details (email and password and agree...) this is to stop any NONE members getting access to FON free sites...that's it BUT as stated you need a good booster to pull in signals or be close to who is transmitting the free FON.....an Ipad or a tablet are very limited in pulling in the signals further than your drive even a laptops own wifi is also a bit limited to your drive distance. Also Polly..you need to leave your router and your FON box ON when your are away...or your email and password won't work....plus nobody would be able to connect to your FON and connect to the internet with what little bandwith/Mb you will allow them. YES we was on FON most of the time.. Polly.. You may find a week fon signal 1 or 2 green blob but this may not be good enough strength...for you get onto the internetAlso to find hotspots you need to be close-ish to commerce...houses... campsites..anywhere that can push out the free wifi's signal...anything that would be with in the range of your wifi / booster....1/2 mile to 2km.Polly does that help you in any way.

Thank you
Yes I have bought the Fon and all set up and I have bought the motorhome wifi booster All set up now
But the booster as yet to convince me
The Fon I have tried out when I have been out in the car locally and ok
Now I need to go out and see if I can get connection to a Fon via my booster So out of area for connection to a Fon but will connect with the booster Hope that makes sense At the moment still feel as though this booster as been a waste of my pennies but time will tell and then I might feel different

Now if you have the motorhome wifi wifi/booster that is a good one, it is the one I use, although mine is old and a bit bulky, the new one is better... Now when you go on the icon for for searching for hotspots...you will see two sets of signals....one will be your normal laptop wifi....the other one if you have your booster plugged into your USB will be the wifibooster and it may say wifi 2 or 3 or 4 or 5...that is your separate wifi booster picking up signals that is the one to use.find your FON signal and connect. The booster will pick far more wifi signals than your normal wifi..Plus stronger signals ....does that make sense. Also FON....when it says SFR/FON.....it has nothing to do with SFR dongles or mifi's... FON is using some bandwidth mb from customers who have unlimited home computers...you can set the amount you wish to allow other members to use e.g..780mb...1gb...2gb..3gb.. the FON router splits you system to allow other members to take a little bit of your internet without getting into your computer..plus allowing you to connect into other members wifi..does that make sense to you..
