| I have been for a medical today prior to leaving for winter trip and had some pleasant and surprising news from my doctor concerning my oxygen levels in my blood. After being a smoker for 60yrs (lets not go their please) I quit on February 1st 2013 and have not had a ciggie since, but I did start to smoke an Ecig to help my addiction. Prior oxygen blood levels revealed only 60% oxygen in my blood confirming my lungs had at best only 50% working capacity and I was given the news that I had about 2years before i would require portable oxygen supplies to stay alive, but after todays test it is now back too 99% of working capacity. Yes I know we look stupid walking around with a piece of metal and plastic stuck in our mouths puffing out (non harmful) water vapour but is that not better that the alternative, and hopefully when the time feels right that habit can also be stopped. Its only the addictive nicotine that keeps one using the Ecig but at least it is not damaging your lungs, and eventually I will stop the use of it. Now got to work on the | |

| Well done Bob. Noticed at a recent MH show, a stand selling Ecigs advertized they could be used with all the usual liquids ..."and Cannabis" lol ! Bet that got a few thinking "Hmmm..." | |

| Well done John, as you know the benefits are great and I was amazed at my results. The Doctor was telling me that the capacity of the lung is around 6lts but that is for exceptional people that use their lungs efficiently/regularly like Singers and sports people and the like, the "normal" amount for us mere mortals is 4lts as we do not train our lungs properly. The last time I was measured MY lung capacity was 2lts of which 65% was damaged by my smoking, so in effect I had the lungs of a 102yr old. Since stopping smoking my capacity has increased because it is not full of the all the crap I was filling them with, lungs do not regenerate and damaged lungs stay damaged but they stay at the damaged level so my 2% will be all I will ever have now but with greater volume due to stopping smoking and now I have the lung function of an 75yr old which is a big improvement, I asked if that meant that I would live to the 102yrs of my last test, and after she picked herself up laughing from the floor she said NO, sorry | |

| Good news, mines probably better too but never had a test. You mention "water vapour" a lot of people say its vapour, others say its smoke, search the internet and you get mixed results, I have started wiring my own coils and when you pull one to bits, they are full of a charcoal like substance and the wick is usually burnt, since doing this my opinion is that its smoke, if something is burning and creates cinders/charcoal surely it's smoke that's being produced?? Or is it a mixture? But I agree, has to be better than the fags and I hope I never go back on them. I haven't found it hard, but would have done if I hadn't been using the leccy fag, be harder to stop this than it was switching to it _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| I've loved reading about Bobs improved lung capacity WELL DONE being a smoking cessation hypnotherapist for 16 years I know that the positives of giving up no matter how long you have been a smoker is excellent.
I've stopped people as young as 14 to 75 never too young or old ( I know they shouldn't smoke at 14!!!! I am a non smoker but have been in ressuss many times for passive smoking as my lungs and health just can't take it. I'm NOT getting at the smokers you will give up IF AND WHEN YOU ARE READY. Can't be any fun though standing in the rain outside the van or canopy .....or maybe in the van which is an added fire hazard for you....honest I'm not preaching.... M | |
