| Just received (last Friday) a letter that took 9 days to arrive that I have to go for a further eye test (peripheral range because of my glaucoma) so now really struggling to get my licence back before France trip. | |

| Bob I am sorry you are going through this. We can say we know how you feel as Colin went through the same. His licence came back beginning of April I believe. | |

| Ken, i got the letter on Friday @ 13.00hrs and immediately rang the clinic for an appointment but was told they had NOT received the instruction from the dvla and could not give me an appointment until they did. So I did a bit of crying and begging and was told to wait until after lunch, well at 15.00hrs they rang me with a date of 16th May and I cried and begged some more, another wait of 90 minutes when they rang back and gave me one for Monday at 14.30 so at least I have got one now. I will ask them to put a letter and a copy of my Eurotunnel crossing (for proof) in with the results and then await the outcome. Joyce now I know what Colin went through, I cannot understand why a letter takes 9 days to arrive from Swansea and why they actually wait 7 weeks before they act in the 1st place, I do not really blame the dvla wholly as they must be under a great strain with the closure of all the local offices. Watch this space | |

| Bob Colin received a letter which appeared to have taken days to arrive but the envelope postmark revealed the letter must have been posted a couple of days before. It would appear DVLA pre date the letters. | |

| So they write you a letter then leave it laying around the office for days until someone decides think I will run down to the post office, a very strange way of doing business | |

| Been for dvla examination and got a real positive result according to the optician 99.9% correct of the field vision test and 99% on the visual test, that will do me and then, so letter winging down to Swansea tonight and I might know the results in about 3 months if it goes like it has done so far. | |

This call costs £1 53 per minute and you are in a queue of 240
What a blooming mess they have made of this service | |

| There is good news and bad news about my Licence, the good news is I have been awarded my C1/D1 entitlement and the DVLA has sent my licence out by post, the bad news is they have not put the entitlements on it and it is invalid and has to be sent back Now after loads of pleading with the office this morning they have issued another licence with the entitlements on it but it will not be posted until Tuesday, (Bank Holiday Weekend) and we leave for France on Friday so now I will be in the hands of the post office, bearing in mind the last letter they sent me took 9 days to arrive, so some panicking is still going on. | |

| I have had a word with Steve our very friendly postman and he will keep a daily lookout for the dvla mail addressed to me and as he does not cover our postcode until around 13.00hrs daily he will make a swift detour as soon as he spots it i had a quote from bike courier co. and its not worth the cost, I have until Saturday at the latest to receive it and I have then put in place a system to have it sent to the site in France recorded airmail. Mark, already done and sorted | |

| Update on things so far, well the licence they posted last Friday (the invalid one) still has not arrived so this morning I rang the dvla again and explained if Friday's post has not arrived I have no chance of Tuesdays post arriving before I leave home. Well there is something they can do, they will FAX/MAIL an official document with the entitlements on it to any address in Europe which is a legal document and complies with EU rules, but not to a UK address So if it has not arrived by Fridays post I have call the dvla and give them the FAX No of the site we are staying on and they will send the document. What a ruddy mess these people are in. | |
