we havejust got rid of a mole{death by trap}we thought mole/s had returned, but on investigation there was no hills, just a underground runway and very spongey grass.

they have caused lots of damage to margaritas lawn in a few days.so i went to u tube to find a way of getting rid of them.

lots of traps and poisons but cant use them because of the dogs.then theres this guy in usa who gasses them, happy days,
so in the morning they are getting gassed,a hose pipe to exhaust fom the car to the bolt hole using tin foil to seal.in the bolt hole and seal with soil.leave engine running for 20 mins.and hopefully no more voles. Twisted Evil

We  have a similar moley problem but its not hit the lawn yet -just the paths and borders-making a mess. tried a sonic repellant but not sure if its working  also tried traps but the mole just buries them and digs around.
my drive is a fair way from the area but could possibly use a hose pipe -let us know if the gassing works please- Smile

Got this email from a mate at the extermination college. Shocked

Despite the increasing numbers of reports of moles being gassed  , and the warning put out by the Foreign Office for moles to be aware of this danger, this College remains of the view that this is a myth. It is the view of the College that it would not be possible to render a mole unconscious by blowing ether, chloroform or any of the currently used volatile anaesthetic agents eg :exhaust gasses, down their holes without their knowledge, even if they were sleeping at the time. Ether and exhaust gasses are an extremely pungent agent and a relatively weak  by modern standards and has a very irritant affect on the air passages, causing coughing and sometimes vomiting. It takes some time to reach unconsciousness, even if given by direct application to the face  and the concentration needed by some sort of spray administered directly into a hole would be enormous. The smell hangs around for days and would be obvious to anyone going round to Franks for a barbecue the next weekend. Even the more powerful modern volatile agents would need to be delivered  by a large compressor. Potential agents, such as the one used by the Russians in the Moscow siege are few in number and difficult to obtain. Moreover, these drugs would be too expensive for the average housholder to use. The other important point to remember is that general gasses are potentially very dangerous.   Moles are more likely to die from obstruction of their airway by their tongues falling back.
