If any of you have been taken in with the 3 blurb that says they have done away with roaming charges in France do not bother putting a lump of credit on it before you set off.
We are now down below Bergerac and never once have we been able to connect, it connects to Bytel immediately and then wanders between connected and disconnected,, all in all I think it is an advertising gimmick a bit less useless than a chocolate tea pot

Unless the teapot is an inch thick, then you get chocolate tea!

No Ken according to the three shop in Burnley even PAYG should work as long as you have credit on the SIM card

Alan, thats very strange as I have had no problem with 3G and my mifi - currently near Foix and using it now...... not always very fast but connected.

Alan, I can only think that you have not changed the settings to 3G UK and it is still locked to another sim card. We have just crossed the border into Spain and as I have only 500mb left I have just let it run out. working well as I typing to you now. Will have a bit of a "chin wag" when we all get to Pedro's - see if we can run a few "morning classes"..........

Well I agree with John...yes it does work but most of the time not 3g fast but still ok...we run ours through our unlocked "3" mifi....we used it at calais and it worked ok... and have been using it every day in Brittany..because for the first week we could not get a free FON signal...but now onto free Fon for the last 3 to 4 days full on...brill...sorry to hear alan you are not having luck with your "3" sim.....and also you say you have bad luck and only found one FON signal and that was at milleraye....all way down to the Dordogne...maybe its because you use the old farts run sites..yet we seem to get everywhere and are on them most if not all the time...and only use the sfr sim if loaded and the "3" for private items....the "3" paygo and contract will work in france BUT you need to have used for a month at least before coming to France...it still says its roaming the chargers are not...or at least mine works at the same rate /cost as the uk... there is a couple next to us (Brits) who thought fon was for the uk only after explaining how it works..he has been on the last two Aires with us picked up the free Fon signal on his samsung tablet....and a long way away from any buildings...excellent

Yes but Mel we always finish up way out in the sticks regardless of you thinking we only use the old farts route. Now if you had said we had old fartitis and were doing it all wrong we may have to agree with you
