| what do you prefer to bring home from abroad.
space wise i prefer boxes.
quality wise i prefer bottles.
boxes of wine have improved over the years,to the extent that you can get a couple of years date on boxes now. in spain large boxes {5 ltr plus are hard to get}but easy to get in france. if you was in spain what would you prefer to bring back.and how much would you bring back...?

| Hia
Frank
I don't mind boxes of JP Chernet Cabernet Syrah
And if you are stuck for space I don't mind if you take them out of the boxes and I will just have the bags full of red wine You could then squeeze a bag in here and there
Thanks for the kind thoughts

i am not asking what your fav wine is or what you want. It all depends for me Frank, if we cross by ferry to Spain its more difficult to get the boxes which I like because of the weight/quantity but the bottles are better quality, so it would be boxes for me, if we drive through France both ways then I will wait until Pidou's in Calais and then I have the full choice of different countries wines, plus size of boxes 3lt+5lt +10lt and the different quality bottle and a lots less weight dragging all the way from Spain So its 24 good bottles to fill my wine rack the rest in boxes.

as long as its quality at a good price. At the right price and quality I would be interested, sick of paying UK rip off prices.

| You can be made to pay duty on alcohol not bought in France as you pass through that Country so you need to be aware. | |

Not what it says on the official site Yeah well you will find that the French have ignored all that, hope it is not you that gets caught out if the French Customs decide to pull you, we came home through Calais on the 21st of this month and had several bottles of spirits on board from Spain but never got pulled in, you pays your money and takes your chances as they say.

I agree with your statement as I do know of people that have been stopped and requested payment for alcohol/tobacco bought from a country in the EU but not from France , the area around Tobacco Road at Adinkerke Belgium going back toward the port of Calais is a prime spot for French customs. They cannot take it from you or charge you any import duty IF you have the reciept and DO NOT have more than the allowance laid out in the EU directive, that is the most important bit NOT being well over the EU limit, as they will accuse you of either smuggling or tax evasion, and can and will confiscate your goods including your transport.

| We prefer boxes, this year on our return home after the winter, we managed to buy 15 litre boxes of rioja for 16 euros each in the basque capital of Vitoro Gasteiz on a market ... it was a little worrying until we tasted it .. that we hadn't blundered and it turned out to taste like vinegar!! We hadn't .. we opened one yesterday ... and it is delicious!! | |
