Rapido lift...and the Wilsthorpe meet

Firstly both Chris and myself would like thank Peter for another 1st class meet/rally at Wilsthorpe..I would also like to thank the team of helpers Pauline, Phil and Ange, Paul and John...

Now back to the rising / lifting of the Rapido 9090DF our m/h from new ... has been nose down..drives well BUT nose down...NO wallowing in corners..BUT this has its problems, trying to get into drives or sites that start dropping away while your front wheels are still on the road hence the the see/saw affect getting stuck on the footpath...plus a few over large sleeping police men / road bumps in villages do on odd occasions .. catch  ....well I took the Motorhome back to Rapido after 6 months to the main works in Mayenne saw the main person in charge who was not at all concerned or helpful..at first he said it was Fiats fault with it being there front end and tried to say it was the exhaust catching...till it was proved otherwise ..and then said it is ALKO's problem with it being a alko chassis...talk about pass the book........so I put up with it.
Now at the Wilsthorpe meet this year Andy(techno100) and Steve who both had Rapidos one similar on a tag and one custom cab..both had had there suspension upgraded to heavy duty and that had lifted there front end up around 3" (75mm) and gave me the address and phone number of the person / firm doing these upgrades...I phoned the person / owner, Mick on the Friday and asked if he had the springs in ...and could he do it tomorrow Saturday as I was going back home to France on the Monday....Mick said YES to both so over to Carcroft the following morning and had them done ..1st person, 1st class service..has a team of three..brill..
This has lifted My Motorhome up around 65 to 70mm and done exactly what I hoped would happen (although i did have my fingers crossed)...now I can get in / on sister-inlaws drive..with the motorhome with a clearance of about 2 to 3mm with a little bit of a load on  

I would like to say thanks to Steve, Andy.who suggested having it done..and of course Mick Leightley MD of S.A.P Specialist Automotive Products..Carcroft , Doncaster ...some photos to follow..

Before the front tyre was just under the wheel arch.. and about 3" off the ground..now there is about 3" above the tyre to the wheel arch and 6" underneath clearance

Great result Mel very glad it had the desired effect. I though he was being a bit conservative with his 40mm 

Looks like a proper van now Mel does it feel any better on the road driving

No steve it rides and drives just the same..as I had no roll beffore...maybe shorter springs the old ones ..   maybe one coil less....you can see daylight under the van now...and it sits straight ..level now
