We have just returned from our sixth visit to the Outer Hebrides and surrounding Islands.
Thanks to the low lives amongst the motorhome community who were observed constantly trashing the disposal point at Leverborough by putting unwanted stuff down the thing, it has been removed by the council. Now if you are 'Wilding' the only disposal point is at Urgha, just outside Tarbert.(£3 per emptying) To reach this you have to drive up through the only narrow street in Tarbert. We received some hostile looks as we negotiated our way up through the town. Who can blame the locals who now have to suffer a constant stream of motorhomes and camper vans trundling past?
A big thanks too to the mindless idiots who have defaced the West Harris Trust sign at one of the Trusts over night stops. These are honesty notices asking anyone stopping to pay just £5 per night via paypal to the Trust. The sign had been damaged so no one can read how much to pay or where to.
Mind you, it won't matter as my wife and I were disgusted by the number of motorhomers who openly stated they would not be paying! These are probably the same mentality as those who took a screwdriver blade to the signs......
Little did they know I am a member of the Trust and I delighted myself in taking registration numbers of those in £60,000+ rigs who stated they wouldn't pay. Let them turn up next year. Big brother is watching and waiting!
Luskintyre car park has a sign on the toilet wall clearly stating only three vans can overnight on the car park by the toilets.
One night I counted 8 almost touching each other. One of the locals, John 'H' informed me that there is moves a'foot to get ANY over nighting stopped at this location.
I have photos of motorhomes parked for the night in passing places, complete with washing hanging from the bike racks!
Moaning! You bet I am! These mindless people who couldn't care less how they behave when on the Hebrides will only have them selves to blame when time is called and the only way we will be allowed on to the Islands is if we can prove we have booked onto a campsite! You can count the campsites on one hand......
Another few nails for the coffin lid. Over dramatic? Just wait and see what the next couple of years brings......
Cheers all.
