| We have a a lovely day out in Southport today, t'was a wee windy on the sea front but it blew away the cob webs and worked the lungs. The tide was fully in and the waves lapped up at the sea wall, something you don't often see at Southport We have had a good walk then nice meal in the new pub on the front and my oh my does it get full even on a weekday but the food was superb and the beer was great Marston's bitter yummie also the have numerous guest beers as well. | we went here today ,first i asked was the fish fresh or frozen, the wairess said it was fresh,so i said..so if i want my fish with no batter on that would be ok...fine she said{not that i wanted the fish without batter, just testing to see if it was fresh}so decided to have freshly battered cod,and margarita would have scampi so i go to the bar this is to the barman two pints of bitter, and a cod and chips, and a scampi and chips.and just to make sure i ask again, the fish is fresh and not frozen isnt it? i will go and check..............sorry sir the fish is frozen wtf . so not one to kick up a fuss ,i said cancel the fish then,i will have a medium rare rump steak, did you get that a medium rare rump steak,ok sir thank you for your order. the meal arrives ,so i cut into the steak its well done and as dry as a nuns coat. excuse me waiter,my steak is well done and i asked for a medium rare.so sorry sir i will get you another one. the next steak arrives so i cut into it its only dryer and more well done than the first one excuse me waiter this steak is overcooked,oh sorry sir i will get you another one .no thank you i dont want anything, just refund me. the manager appears....we are so sorry that we have messed up twice, but if you want i will go in the kitchen and personally cook your steak.no thank you.i think 2 chances to cook a steak is enough.just give me a refund.to his credit the manager offered me anything i wanted {there was a nice little brunette, but i thought better not say it.}so the refund came over and more apoligies. margaritas scampi was just about ok,but she would not get it again. the beer was very good and a very nice view.i would gi in again for a pint but i will not eat in there. | |

| Frank got to admit our grub was not as we expected as mine was over cooked ( I like a bit of blood) but son and wife did enjoy their fish. We were told to wait until the staff told us the fish was ready to serve before we went for our meal so we could all eat together this did not happen and son ate their meal and we stood in a queue.
Complained to manager got voucher for 4 free drinks next time also filled in a review online and told them it was not the best food or service we have had and not good for a new business.

| I think a bit of complacency has set in here as the 1st time we used it soon after it opened we had great food done exactly as we asked and really enjoyed the beer and the views, the second time was a disappointment and I filled in an online survey telling them so but I have had no response.
It will be a shame if they make a horlicks of this place as the pub has one of the finest locations in Southport so they should now put their house in order and get it right or it will be the most costly expenditure for Marstons brewery in their history, people will not accept bad food and service.
